Aha: Matt figures something out.
After SES San Jose, I caught a cold from someone. Just as I was starting to feel nearly 100%, I got sick again! "What the heck is going on?" I asked myself. I should mention I'm normally as healthy as a horse. I tend to get sick maybe once a year, and it's usually a cold that passes quickly. So after I still felt bad (coughing and running a fever) after another week or so, I started wondering, "Have I turned into some sort of wussball? I never stay sick this long!"
I'm better than most guys about things like asking for directions when I'm lost. But I tend to soldier on when I'm sick instead of going to the doctor. My wife has had the same thing, and she's much smarter than me. She eventually went to the doctor. So what did she find out?
The doctor said she had bronchitis! Aha, BRONCHITIS! We have BRON-FRIGGIN-CHITIS! That means I don't have to feel like a wussball for coughing this long. The funny thing is that I've talked to several people at Google who said "yeah, I got a nasty cold that knocked me flat for a few days, and I coughed for a week or two after that." I think it was making the rounds at Google.
So I'm just going to take it easy this weekend. Lots of relaxing, fluids, sunshine, and fresh air. Wintersmith, by Terry Pratchett doesn't come out for another month, but there's a couple book sales around the bay area this weekend, plus the Mountain View Art & Wine Festival.
